Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is a personalized, systems-oriented approach that finds underlying causation of disease that is based on developing a strong therapeutic relationship between patient and provider.  This branch of medicine is a newly evolved model that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century.  The traditional medical practice is focused more on a disease-centered model, finding quick remedies for an array of symptoms.  Functional Medicine is more of a patient centered approach that addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.  This new approach to medicine is replacing the outdated and ineffective acute care model.  We are not looking for what is wrong we are more concerned on why it went wrong.  In pillar 2 we incorporate the latest in genetic science, systems biology and understanding how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the emergence and progression of disease.  Our strategy for pillar 2 empowers patients to take an active role in their own health, a staple of the radical wellness mindset.

The most common issue we find with our patients is the misinformation they are acquiring from their previous healthcare provider or the overwhelming amount of information on the internet.  We often hear our patients complaining that no one can give answers on previously diagnosed problems or alternative treatments to symptoms they have been having for years.  Functional Medicine gives you the ability to find the cause of your symptoms or previously diagnosed ailments.  We can find what systems are affected and a plan on how to fix the systems that are damaged that may be giving rise to symptoms in the first place.  This approach has an ability to prevent the occurrence to disease and will extinguish chronic maladies as well.
We see patients that have already been diagnosed and want a second opinion but we also see new patients that need answers in some of their health concerns as well.
